The Last of Us on PS3/PS4 is a great survival game and no, the Humans didn't turn into Zombies, and this isn't your typical Zombie game ether. For all intents and purposes they are zombies.:PThey are infected, not zombies! Zombies are people who have come back from the dead, the infected are people who are sick and haven't died yet.TLOU has infected, not zombiesOriginally a zombie refers to a person brought back from the dead under control of a sorcerer. The idea of zombies being mindless uncontrollable beasts that roam the earth for no reason other than to eat mainly comes from films. There are so many different folklore stories about zombies and zombie like creatures that to argue that something isn't a true zombie is just plain silly. They act like zombies therefore they are zombies.

They are infected, not zombies! Zombies are people who have come back from the dead, the infected are people who are sick and haven't died yet.TLOU has infected, not zombiesThey serve exactly the same mechanical function. Which I believe is the TC's point.Agreed.

I don't get too hung up on the semantics of 'are my opponents literally undead'. To me, TLoU is basically a zombie game and I expect that most people asking for 'no zombie games' would see it the same way. That said, there are a number of wilderness survival style games where it's really you against the environment/wildlife. Many are early access, but Miasmata is a pretty decent one by most accounts. Also, although it's not specifically wilderness survival there's 'I Am Alive'.

Originally supposed to be a full console title it got cut to be an XBLA title and is now available on Steam, too. This game plays just like a survival horror game, but it takes place in a ruined city. You enemies are thirst, starvation, limited resources you have to scavenge for, and other humans. Combat/encounters are more of a strategy game, where resources are so limited you have to think your way through dangerous moments. More often than not, you'll have fewer bullets than there are opponents. You can use your gun to 'hold up' opponents (regardless of whether you have ammo or not).

Ps3 zombie survival games

If two guys come at you and you only have one bullet, maybe you shoot the armed one and hold up the other, then move close enough to stab him before he realizes you have no ammo. There are also long and complicated climbing areas and your character has a stamina bar. Overdo it, and you damage your maximum stamina and have to use recovery items to restore it. Fail to push hard enough and you may fall to your death.

The game is pretty detailed.-Byshop. There's an independent game for PS3/XBOX (possibly new gens too) called I am Alive. It is a post-apocalyptic game in which you try to outsmart, help, hide from, etc. Other humans who survived.

Imagine The Last of Us without any zombies. Instead you play as a man looking for his family who finds a little girl that rides on his back whom he protects as a representation of his own family. Instead of slaying zombies (hey I liked TLoU I'm just going with the theme here) you sometimes may have no bullets and five enemies and must threaten them but not let them know it isn't loaded. It isn't the most refined game and it has its control and gameplay flaws but for an older, independent game it's a solid 7.5-8/10 and has a human aspect to it that I feel is missing from a lot of survivals.

It also makes you think about your moves more than just 'kill, shoot, kill, kill kill'. That being said, it has very tense moments and a lot of action. Watch a trailer, I tend to ramble and not be the best describer, but it seems to be exactly what you're looking for. I've also been looking all over for a proper survival game. Just gave up and decided to start development on my own. I've done several hardcore wilderness survival courses myself and know what it is really like to be out there with close to nothing. The discomfort is immense over a few days.

You won't be building houses from logs and fighting zombies etc., you'll want to get out of the situation as effectively as possible. Drink water from a random lake and you'd possibly get sick and die within a few days if you don't get help.My aim is to have the game simulate exactly this. From using the sun, starts, analogue watch, topo map and compass to find direction from an unknown spot deep in the middle of nowhere, to building a basic shelter and using proper techniques to find water and food. The “missions” would have you spawn in an unknown location and you'd have to get back to civilization in a couple of days, battling for survival against mother nature only. Quiet canyons and deep forests. It has to look pretty as well.Believe me, there are so many dangers out there and skills you need to use to keep alive.

No zombie attacks needed to make such a game interesting. I can recommend Astroneer. It's even perfect before going to bed. Contrary to other more stressful and thrilling games like Left 4 Dead 2, Call of Duty, Doom, etc. Astroneer is rather peaceful and therapeutic. The game centres around the idea of exploration and expansion.

Ps3 Survival Horror Games

Although there are a few reasons why you could die, there are no predators to worry about. As long as you have oxygen, you're away from plant's fumes, and you don't fall from high, you'll be fine. Plus, it's very affordable too.My 2 cents.
